All Hammers 15% Off

Until the end of March all hammers are 15% off. I will do an even better deal for multiple purchases from the hammer section of axeoexa.

Photos

I received a nice surprise in the mail the other day in the form of a CD of one mans collection of axes and other old bits and pieces. The CD also included some pictures of some of the axes that he has made and the attention to detail is truly amazing. So I thought that these photos were well worth sharing.

To view the photos click on the shed image below.

My latest creation

This project was a lot fun and will make doing some of the jobs I do with handles a lot easier. It is also for sale  as I can also make myself another one. So if you are interested why not contact me for a price or a quote to have one made to your specifications.

Glitch

It seems we had a bit of a problem with the checkout system on axeoexa. All seems to be fixed now and hopefully it is business as usual. If you are having any difficulty getting through  to the checkout then let me know so we can fix the problem and I can then also help you with your purchase.

Cheers Dave

Double Bit Sale

Get in quick and I can have one of these fine axes to you before Christmas. I have taken 10% off all of them and will do better again for multiple purchases. If you can not see what you are after then contact me for some of the other double bit axes that I have in my shed but are not listed on axeoexa.

10% Off All Hatchets

I have gone through and marked down all the hatchets on axeoexa for this month. Why not talk to me about prices on my other items. I will always discount multiple purchases from both my Ebay Store and axeoexa. I also combine postage on all items sold to do the best postage prices possible.

5lb Elwell

Photos are now on my Facebook page.

If you like big axes then later today or tomorrow I will have some photos of this thumping big axe. The head weighed in at over 5lbs on the kitchen scales before I fitted the handle. I have spent a lot of time getting the cutting edge in good shape and it is very sharp and ready for work or the collection. Elwell axes are easy to find in smaller sizes. Not so easy to find a 5lb axe and even harder to find one in this condition.

I will be listing this one on Ebay Sunday night but I am open to early offers. Just contact me.

USA made Siegley STS number 4 Restoration

A fantastic restoration of a plane by Robert and a description in his own words. Nice Job!

Few photos attached before and after including the plane in action taking whisper thin shavings from Rose Gum that float to the floor.

The restoration started out with electrolysis to remove all the rust. Light grit blasting of the body and re-painting with industrial 50% gloss high build black enamel using acetone as the thinner. The result is the best japanning look alike you will ever see.

The cap iron, blade and lever cap were hand buffed to restore some what the original lustre. The plane was assembled and fully fettled by hand, I.E. base flattened to within .002”,   Frog and frog base re-seated and flattened. The blade back was flattened using progressive diamond plates through to 6000 grit water stone, face of the blade re-ground to 25 deg and then honed to 30 deg secondary bevel then honed to 10000 grit water stone. Cap iron was mated to the blade and polished using diamond  plates.

The tote (rear handle) had to be replaced which was a problem – original handle was Honduras Mahogany – Caribbean or Cuban origin which is near impossible to get. Eventually got some from a timber merchant in Melbourne but the colour is much different.
